Customs Clearance
Every import shipment crossing the border into USA must clear customs and pay duties and taxes unless specifically exempted by CBP and importers must provide a valid Power of attorney (POA) to our brokerage DIRECTLY, BEFORE transacting Customs Business.

A Customs bond is required when importing merchandise for commercial purposes that are valued over $2,500 or a commodity subject to other federal agencies requirements. Merchandise shall not be released from customs custody at the time CBP receives the entry documentation unless you have an annual bond or a sing bond.
Import Security Filing
ISF is required to be submitted to CBP no later than 24 hours PRIOR to the cargo being loaded on the vessel destined to USA. Keep in mind, it takes 48 to 72 hours to have all the information for the ISF.
Avoid Penalties
The Penalty for Untimely (late) filing, incomplete filing, inaccurate or any failure ISF, CBP may assess a claim for liquidated damages against the party in the amount of $5,000 per violation.

Effective as of 12/19/2022:
- Brokers must execute a customs power of attorney (POA) Directly with the importer of record (IOR)or drawback claimant, and not via a freight forwarder or other (unlicensed) third party, to transact customs business for that importer of record or drawback claimant
- Brokers must advise the client on the proper corrective actions required in the case of noncompliance or an error or an omission on the client's part and retain a record of their communication with the client
